Facilities Waikowhai Intermediate School has a bright and modern physical environment. The vast majority of the school is new or has been re-modeled within the last five years. Features of the environment include fully refurbished classrooms. These rooms are newly carpeted, have pin-board wall linings, an interactive whiteboard for teacher and student use, data show projectors permanently wired into the ceilings for multi-media display and at least five internet capable computers in each room. For student comfort the majority of student cloakbays and bathroom facilities have recently been upgraded. There are also large sunshade shelters and verandahs for sun protection in summer and wet weather shelter in the winter. Students have access to a canteen at lunch and interval times. Specialist teaching facilities include a large dance/drama room, recording studio, music room, technology computer bay, technology workshop and design environment, a food technology room, a science laboratory, a visual art room, rooms especially for programmes to support and advance learning, a large spacious library and a television broadcast facility which is networked throughout the school. |
